She grieved, as a mother in the nation, and the region the hundreds of death caused by illicit brews and second generation alcohol.

“Mount Kenya, and also here in Muranga, we must fight this demon of alcoholism. It has killed our children. The seed carrier will not die like an animal,” said Pastor Dorcas.

She said that the government was in the forefront in fighting alcoholism in partnership with the church, and urged the citizenry not to be left behind.

“The church and the government is coming together to make sure our children live,” she said.

She called on mothers to take a leading role in raising their children as responsible men and women for the society.

“To the Women’s Guild, and all women, the work of the church is to make Jesus and God someone people want to come closer to. Let us pray for the boy child, and the issue of alcoholism,” she added.

As a champion for the boy-child, she emphasized the need for strong families as the foundation of society. Pastor Dorcas called on all Kenyans to join hands in saving the boy-child as the seed carrier from extinction because of alcohol and drugs.

Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth (an in-law of the bereaved family), politician David Murathe and other leaders were also present.

The late Elder Peris died at the age of 89 years old, and was a devouted Christian in the PCEA church for more than 67 years in different leadership roles. She served as treasurer and later as chairlady of woman’s guild in PCEA Kihumbu-ini parish in Muranga county.

Her Christian values and leadership skills have been hailed as revolutionary by both church and political leaders who attended the burial. She is survived by seven children, fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
