The government has officially launched the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV), a comprehensive strategy aimed at accelerating Kenya’s progress towards becoming a newly-industrializing, middle-income country by 2030.

Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki presided over the opening of a stakeholder engagement forum in Marsabit, where key players gathered to prioritize development programs and projects for the county.

The plan, which spans from 2023 to 2027, marks the final phase of the Kenya Vision 2030 initiative.

“It is designed to harmonize the implementation of various programs and projects that aim to increase household incomes and improve the quality of life for all citizens in a clean and secure environment,” said Kindiki

“This forum is part of a broader effort to ensure that the County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs) of all 47 counties are aligned with MTP IV and the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).” He said.

The plan focuses on increasing investments in strategic sectors such as agriculture, health, housing, and the digital economy, which are essential for driving economic growth and enhancing the living standards of wananchi.

The event saw significant attendance from top government officials, including Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali and Principal Secretary for ASALs and Regional Development Kello Harsama.

During the forum, discussions centered on how to effectively implement and prioritize the planned development initiatives, with an emphasis on fostering inclusive growth and ensuring that the benefits of economic progress reach every corner of the country.

The MTP IV aims to create a cohesive and robust framework that will drive Kenya towards achieving its Vision 2030 goals, setting a strong foundation for sustainable development and prosperity.
