Further, it was revealed that the talks were expected to hit a crucial point on Monday.

According to earlier reports by Eye Radio, the Ruto-led talks dubbed the Tumaini Initiative were unique as they featured all the stakeholders in the Sudan peace process.

Earlier on, President Ruto revealed that he had invited General Hemedti, the leader of a powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to  State House, Nairobi to engage in talks.

Further, the leader of the Hold-out group referred to as the Real Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Gen. Pagan Amum Okiech, reiterated that the talks were unique in that their leaders were learning their lessons.

According to Pagan, the talks were also expected to yield successful outcomes following President Ruto’s commitment to a favourable outcome.

Further, it was revealed that the talks were expected to deliver a constitutional text anticipated to serve as the foundational law of the nation, articulating the new social contract that all South Sudanese would collectively endorse.

Additionally, Sudan is also expected to create a new transitional government, a fresh transitional governance structure, moving away from the experiences of previous transitional governments post-independence.

The process will also incorporate stringent measures for managing national resources allocated for implementing the agreement.

This aims to prevent resource wastage, mismanagement, and corruption while fostering trust and confidence in the new transitional governance arrangements and implementation mechanisms.
